For more than twenty-five years, I’ve dedicated myself to the land surveying profession. I grew up in and around construction from the day I was born, and this work has shaped not only my career but my entire life.
Many of you know me professionally or personally, but I’d like to introduce myself more fully—as a whole person—to the community and to those interested in my new nonprofit initiative, PLS Watchdog. I am licensed in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland, and I hold a Minor Engineering Certificate from the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC). My education came through night classes at CCBC, Drexel University, Montgomery County Community College, the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, and countless online courses. Every credential is in good standing with the respective boards.
I’ve asked men and women to trust me with their lives, just as I’ve trusted them with mine. I’ll admit I was a poor leader when I was young, and I’ve made mistakes even more recently. But I’ve grown, and I continue to learn by hearing others share their experiences.
Through my experiences, I’ve seen how deeply land development and government shape American culture—and how rarely this is discussed openly. These forces shape our communities, yet the realities faced by those in the industry often go unspoken.
That’s why I’m launching PLS Watchdog: a nonprofit initiative to provide insight, understanding, and validation for those navigating this complex field. My goals are to:
• Advocate for surveyors, contractors, engineers, farmers, and property owners
• Give a voice to professionals who cannot speak out for fear of repercussions
• Offer services to those who cannot afford them
• Train anyone who truly wants to enter this business
My Approach
I’ll be professional, silly, occasionally vulgar, a dad, a husband, and always honest. I’ll never disgrace my profession, the trades, or my family. I’ll put my own mess-ups on the table first and let the community decide.
The content I create will be for everyone—from elementary school students to seasoned professionals. Serious or explicit content will carry warnings and locks for younger audiences. I apologize in advance if our language offends, but the trades are the trades, and I want people to speak freely.
My Commitment
My ultimate goal is to volunteer my time to support and advocate for anyone in need—on a donation basis. You pay what you think it’s worth. Every contribution, no matter the size, will sustain these efforts and support my family, with full transparency on costs and expenditures.
This profession is my calling, my community, my family. Surveyors have played a foundational role in American history, and I strive to honor that legacy by upholding the highest standards of integrity and service.
I invite farmers, homeowners, and industry professionals who need honest guidance or advocacy to reach out. Together, we can reinforce trust and accountability in our field.
Through our combined efforts I'm hoping to help the Motley Crew that have been affected by mental health and addiction but are looking for a new start. We'll train you and show you the way from recovery to success. Our goal is to help those that want it, by giving them an insight to all the things this country can do, by way of the surveyor. Through these skill building efforts, those in the program will have an opportunity to see the various trades and even farming communities.
From my “studio,” I’ll share thoughts, stories, and insights—sometimes serious, sometimes a little nuts. But always real.
With respect and dedication,
Welcome to PLS Watchdog.
I hate money but love working hard.
I’m obsessed with surveying—if you’ve met me, you’ve seen the energy firsthand.
I love my wife and three daughters above all else. My wife is my guiding light, and together we raised our children without daycare, building a life that took us from $16/hour with no benefits to $180,000/year in just over twenty years.
I started out alone in life, but after 9/11, standing in Times Square on New Year’s Eve 2001, I knew two things: This career and this person beside me were all I’d ever need.
The journey hasn’t been easy. In the last fourteen years, I’ve left eight companies. The demands of this career have tested me personally and professionally. But my commitment to truth and to this profession has never wavered.
